NOVELA A LO MAS SAGRADO
This series of works represent an offering to the Arhuaco Indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada on the Colombian Caribbean coast. My work draws inspiration from their wise understanding of the connection between humans and the natural world and highlights their wisdom and cultural depth. The imagery merges portraits of Mamos and Sagas, Catholic iconography and traditional Arhuaco symbols.
The Mamos are male leaders of the community and are associated with the sun, and the Sagas, females associated with the moon.
